Mike Joyce
Mediator
Mike Joyce is a mediator who helps employers, business owners, and their attorneys resolve disputes before they become costly, whether or not a lawsuit has been filed. He is also qualified for appointment as a mediator by Texas courts under Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code § 154.052, and is a member of the Texas Association of Mediators.
Mike mediates employment disputes, business and partner disagreements, and workplace conflict. Whether the parties want to preserve a working relationship or simply reach a practical resolution, he provides a confidential, structured, and neutral setting where each side is heard and the people in the dispute stay in control of the outcome.
For nearly two decades, within the businesses he has led, Mike regularly mediated employment disputes, including wrongful termination, wage disputes, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, disability, and workplace injury matters, along with commercial disagreements over ownership changes, buy-outs, and roles and compensation. He has also completed formal mediation training and is qualified for appointment by Texas courts under Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code § 154.052.
Mike believes conflict is a normal part of business, and that it gets resolved fastest when people can talk openly, understand what is really driving the dispute, and weigh their options with clear information and their own counsel beside them. He sees his job as keeping the process fair, focused, and moving, so the parties can reach an agreement they chose.
He brings 21 years of senior-level business and dispute resolution experience. Before law school, Mike spent 16 years in senior leadership, including as a General Manager of multiple dealership operations, where he led teams, ran day-to-day operations, and handled and resolved conflict between employees and customers. He then spent five years in investment banking and business consulting, and is now a Vice President of Capital Markets at an investment bank, advising business owners on sell-side M&A and capital raise transactions.
Those roles meant negotiating under pressure, weighing the stakes for each side, and getting people with different goals to a decision they could live with. That experience, along with careful preparation, active listening, and a clear process, is the foundation of his approach to mediation.
Mike graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a BLS in Pre-Law and Political Science and is a J.D. candidate at St. Mary’s University School of Law.
Mike is a neutral facilitator and does not provide legal advice.
